About Me
My name is Md. Manik Sarker. I work as a member of the BCS (Agriculture) at the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
I was born in 1989 in Talom, a village in Tarash Upazila, Sirajganj district, Bangladesh. My elementary education took me to various parts of the country. In 2008, I enrolled at Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, where I experienced some of the most memorable times of my life. I achieved moderate results in both my undergraduate and graduate studies.
Driven by a dream to become a computer programmer, I pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in ICT from the same university. On June 1, 2016, I joined the DAE as an Agriculture Extension Officer through the 34th BCS. After working at the Upazila level for 2 years and 7 months, I was transferred to the DAE Headquarters in Khamarbari, Dhaka, on January 31, 2019.
My research interests include agricultural monitoring with remote sensing and GIS, land use and land cover (LULC), machine learning, precision agriculture, and paddy rice area mapping. Currently, I am pursuing a Master's in Environmental Sciences as a graduate student in the Degree Programs in Life and Earth Sciences at the Graduate School of Science and Technology, University of Tsukuba, Japan.
